I'll come straight out and say it. I would rather wash the dishes than make the weekly menu.
I know that coming up with what to cook for dinner and breakfast (because lunch is always last night's leftovers) daily is stressful, and I know that making the weekly menu will relieve that stress. I know that the weekly menu will help with the budget and cut down on food spoilage and so on and so forth. I just don't like doing it. I don't know why. Perhaps it's too much forward thinking?
But moving on.
I'm trying to be more mindful of our food. Not only will I be more conscientious about avoiding food wastage, I also will try to make our meals healthier and more varied. I have a fantastic source of vegetables--Veggies on Wheels. Not only do I get freshly harvested organic goodness, I am also helping the small farmers who produce them. My veggies are delivered weekly by Gourmet Living Paranaque, which is also my source of deli meats. So I don't even have to go to the market or supermarket; I order online and my goodies are delivered straight to my doorstep.
To make sure that the veggies (or other food) don't go to waste, I have decided to eat my frog and make a *gasp* weekly menu. So last week, I had broccoli, camote, carrots, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, zucchini, oyster mushrooms, kale and French beans. We had the following dinners:
Broccoli and Sundried Tomato Pasta (with plump sweet-tart cherry tomatoes)
Ginger Chili Beef with Kale

This is another quick meal, because I softened and froze the beef beforehand and took it out to defrost a few hours before cooking.
Fried Tilapia with Lemon Garlic French Beans
Tofu-and-Corn Stuffed Bell Peppers

Next time, I'd add some mushroom to the stuffing, and a few herbs. But for an experimental dish, this world out well.
Zucchini and Oyster and Button Mushrooms Pasta
Not pictured are: chicken curry with fresh cilantro (I adore cilantro!), and fresh lettuce in all sorts of salads. I also haven't done anything with the camote, but I plan to try baking some camote cookies tomorrow.
What I love about these dishes? All easy to cook! I'm a fan of easy to cook. Til next week! Feel free to give suggestions for food to cook. Make my life easier! And hopefully this made yours easier too.
thank you. very helpful 🙂
